SJMUN was founded in 1972 and remains one of the most popular clubs on campus. This year will mark the thirty-seventh year Saint John's has hosted SJMUNC. From the very beginning, we have been dedicated to committing ourselves to being a teaching conference. The initial idea for the conference revolves around having a low-stakes environment where students new to Model UN can learn the ropes while emulating what a national committee may feel like. SJMUNC is also a good opportunity for experienced delegates to shake off some of the summer rust before attending national conferences during the "Model UN Season." We are committed to providing an inclusive environment where students can learn the arts of debate, negotiation, and public speaking. We wish to challenge students to choose collaboration over competition with others from different ideas and thoughts. We strive to provide the first step in many students' Model UN careers, thus providing the foundation for the next generation of global citizens.
